Junior first baseman Kasey Britt
CONWAY, Ark. - After splitting a double-header on Saturday, the University of Central Arkansas softball team lost to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 10-1 in six innings in Sunday's series finale at Farris Field. The Southland Conference leading Islanders (20-6, 8-1) outhit the Bears (10-13, 3-3) 12-5 and took advantage of four UCA errors.

UCA scored in the bottom of the first when junior first baseman Kasey Britt hit a two-out double, her 14th of the season, and was driven in in by sophomore catcher Melanie Bryant and a base hit down the right field line.

Two errors with a Hannah Schwarz RBI-single and a Caley Jeter sacrifice fly led two runs in the top of the second for TAMUCC. The Islanders went up 4-1 in the fourth on a Schwarz RBI sacrifice bunt and a Kasie Smith run-scoring single.

The Islanders scored six runs on six hits and an error in the sixth inning. Right fielder Stephanie Vead and Laura Phillips both had two-run doubles in the inning.

Schwarz, Vead and Phillips had two hits and two RBI each for TAMUCC. Left fielder Lauren Sanders went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and three runs scored. Britt went 2-for-2 with a double for UCA. Bryant, Brooke Reynolds and Preslie Long also had hits for the Bears.
