BEARS SUFFER 6-0 SETBACK TO STEPHEN F. AUSTIN

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Central Arkansas became the sixth victim in a row for a red-hot Stephen F. Austin team, falling 6-0 to to the Ladyjacks on Friday to extend SFA's winning streak to six games and unbeaten streak to nine.

The Ladyjacks (8-2-1, 3-0-0 Southland) got goals from six different players as they put up a 2-0 lead going into the intermission, then pulled away in the second half. SFA peppered UCA with 30 shots with 14 on goal, both season highs against the Bears (5-6-1, 1-2-0).

UCA was limited to two shots against an SFA team that sits 59th in the nation in the latest RPI – the highest in the Southland, with Texas State second at 124. It was the seventh shutout of the season for SFA.

Junior goalkeeper Kelsey Gochnauer had a season-high eight saves for the Bears before giving way to sophomore Lyndzey Goff midway through the second half.

UCA travels to Huntsville, Texas to play Sam Houston State on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Bears are 1-1 at Sam Houston, losing 4-2 in 2009 after winning 4-3 in 2007.
