UCA DROPS 3-1 DECISION AT TEXAS STATE

Lindsey Barron notched 10 kills in Saturday's loss at Texas State.
CONWAY, Ark. –  Caleigh McCorquodale had a huge day for Texas State with 41 assists, 21 digs and three blocks Saturday afternoon and Amber Calhoun added 15 kills and 10 total blocks as the Bobcats knocked off the University of Central Arkansas by the score of 3-1 (25-13, 25-27, 25-18, 25-20).
 
The Sugar Bears struggled out of the gate, hitting just .000 in the opening set and dropping a lopsided set by the count of 25-13. The Bobcats hit .500 in the opening set and really never looked back through the remainder of the afternoon.
 
With the victory, Texas State (18-6, 9-1) earned their ninth straight victory. The loss for UCA marked the first Southland Conference loss since Northwestern State defeated the Sugar Bears on Oct. 5.

Scout Brooks paced UCA (13-11, 7-3) on the afternoon, posting 11 kills, four digs and two service aces. Lindsey Barron chipped in 10 kills of her own and had one block. Marissa Collins posted a double-double with 41 assists and 13 digs.

In addition to Calhoun, the Bobcats saw two other players give double-digit kill efforts. Amari Deardorff had 13 kills and four blocks while Melissa Toth tallied 12 kills to go along with three digs and three blocks.

UCA returns home for their next match on Thursday to square off against Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
