LADY LIONS DOWN BEARS 3-0

Freshman Alex Wurst
CONWAY — Defending Southland Conference champion Southeastern Louisiana scored twice early, then added another in the final moments to defeat Central Arkansas 3-0 on Sunday.

The Bears (5-5-1, 1-1-0) gave up two goals in the first nine minutes to the league's highest-scoring team and were never able to to get on the board against the Lady Lions (8-2-1, 2-0-0).

Southeastern needed just 1:17 to jump ahead as Kelsey Salcido got her eighth goal of the season. Kyle Macintosh followed that in the ninth minute with her second goal of the year. From there, neither team scored again until the 88th minute when Ann Stranges netted her first of the season.

The Bears got just five shots in the game, including two on goal – one each from Alex Wurst and Kristin Pollard.

Kelsey Gochnauer had four saves for UCA. Cassie Northrup had two for the Lions.

UCA continues league play next weekend when the Bears travel to Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston State.
