UCA VOLLEYBALL EXPLODES AGAINST TTU

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The University of Central Arkansas volleyball had one of the best offensive outputs in school history, as the Sugar Bears defeated Tennessee Tech in a three-set sweep on Friday afternoon at the WKU Tournament. The Sugar Bears (6-4) hit .423, the 10th best percentage in school history, downing the Golden Eagles 25-17, 25-8, 25-22.

UCA recorded 47 kills and made just six errors. In the second set, they hit an astonishing .630, connecting on 17 kills with no attack errors.

TTU hit .134 with 30 kills.

Freshman middle blocker Jessica Nagy and senior right side Chloe Smith both hit above .500 and had 12 kills each. Sophomore middle blocker Taylor Hammonds hit .583 with seven kills, and junior outside hitter Jessica Hays had seven kills. Freshman setter Marissa Collins dished out 39 assists with four kills and six digs. Junior libero came up with 23 digs, and Nagy led the net defense with six blocks.

Leah Meffert paced the Golden Eagles with 12 kills.

The Sugar Bears will continue the tournament on Saturday with a 10 a.m. match with Missouri and a 7 p.m. match with host Western Kentucky.
