CONWAY — The University of Central Arkansas women’s soccer team will host its 2010 home opener at 2 p.m. Wednesday when the Bears take on UALR at the Bill Stephens Track/Soccer Complex.
The Bears (1-1) enter the game coming off a 6-0 victory over Alcorn State in Lorman, Miss. last week. The Trojans come into the game with an 0-3 record, having suffered losses to Oral Roberts, Tulsa and Missouri State to start the season.
The Trojans hold a 3-0 series lead against UCA, having last defeated the Bears 3-1 in 2007 in the only other meeting in Conway. The Trojans also won 3-0 in 2000 and 4-0 in 1999 with both games in Little Rock.
The Trojans are led by junior Christina Veasley, who was selected as the 2010 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Player of the Year after scoring 12 goals last season.
The Bears come into the match having had six different players record goals and six record assists in the win over Alcorn. Freshmen Alex Barnett and Sarah Correll each recorded a goal and an assist to lead the Bears with three points apiece.
