LORMAN, Miss. - The University of Central Arkansas women's soccer team put on an offensive display at Alcorn State on Thursday afternoon. The Bears (1-1) fired 24 shots with 14 on goal, en route to a 6-0 victory over the Lady Braves (0-3).


The six goals is highest output for UCA since defeating Nicholls 6-1 on Oct. 12, 2007.

Junior Marissa Hicks started the scoring in the 15th minute after a pass from freshman Alex Barnett. Barnett scored a minute later with an assist from sophomore Elizabeth Brady. Junior defender Julie Foerster connected with freshman Sarah Correll who put it in the net in the 36th minute, putting the Bears up 3-0 in the first half.

Freshman Emma Reed netted a goal in the 56th minute with an assist from senior Brittney Warren. Freshman Abigail Hodgson assisted senior Cori Kaplinger's goal in the 78th minute and junior Corey Rossi scored in the 81st munute on a pass from Correl.

Sophomore keeper Kelsey Gochnauer recorded two saves.

Celina Clark and Mallory Dayot recorded two shots each for Alcorn. Goalkeeper Ashley Murray recorded eight saves.

The Bears will return home to face Arkansas-Little Rock on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
