SUGAR BEARS DEFEND HOME STREAK THIS WEEKEND

Senior Chloe Smith
CONWAY, Ark. - One streak is over, but another is still alive and the University of Central Arkansas volleyball team will try to extend it, starting on Thursday against Lamar at 7 p.m. UCA will also host McNeese State on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Sugar Bears (22-7, 11-1 Southland) SLC streak of  33 matches ended at UTSA on Saturday, but UCA has won 26 straight matches at the Prince Center, which is the third longest streak in the nation.

Since 2005, the Sugar Bears are 64-10 in the Prince Center, good for a .865 winning percentage.

This weekend's matches will be the final at home for UCA's two seniors - defensive specialist Chloe Evans and right side hitter Chloe Smith. The duo has helped the Sugar Bears to a four-year record of 97-26, three Southland Conference East Division titles and one overall title.

Junior Jessica Hays is 16 kills shy of becoming the fifth Sugar Bear to reach the 1,000 kills milestone. She currently has 984 career kills and ranks sixth in UCA history.
