SUGAR BEARS WRAP UP HOMESTAND WITH SWEEP

CONWAY, Ark. - The University of Central Arkansas volleyball team ended their nine-match homestand with a sweep over Arkansas-Pine Bluff at the Prince Center on Monday night. With the 25-8, 25-19, 25-9 victory, the Sugar Bears (15-6) completed the stretch with a 9-0 record and extended their 25-match winning streak in the Prince Center, dating back to 2008.

The Sugar Bears overpowered the Lady Lions (2-13) by hitting .461, the eighth best mark in school history. UAPB managed to hit just .016.

Senior Chloe Smith and junior Jessica Hays led UCA's offensive attack with 12 kills each. Hays, who ranks fifth in the nation in service aces, recorded five serves for points and also had five digs. Freshman middle blocker Jessica Nagy had eight kills and four blocks and sophomore Taylor Hammonds added six kills. Junior libero Cristin Curl led all players with eight digs and freshman setter Marissa Collins had 38 assists.

Alexis Lowe led the Lady Lions with three kills and 10 assists. Jasmine Jacobs had six digs.

UCA, who are ranked a program-best 62nd in the season's first NCAA RPI, will go back on the road for a Southland Conference match at Northwestern State on Thursday night.
