UCA TO PLAY IN BATTLE OF DIVISION LEADERS ON SATURDAY

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The University of Central Arkansas volleyball team won their 16th consecutive match by sweeping Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at the Dugan Wellness Center on Thursday night. The 25-14, 25-22, 25-20 victory marks the 33rd straight Southland win for the Sugar Bears (22-6, 11-0), the third longest streak in the nation. The Islanders fall to 11-14 and 4-7 in league play.

UCA, who leads the SLC's East Division, will play at UTSA, the West Division leader at 10-1, on Saturday to possibly determine the top seed for November's Southland Conference Tournament.

The Sugar Bears outhit the Islanders .284 to .156 and had a 46-28 kills advantage. UCA served up eight aces, while TAMUCC were blanked in the category.

Senior Chloe Smith hit .351 and connected on 16 kills to pace UCA. Reigning Southland Offensive Player of the Week Jessica Hays recorded her 12th double-double of the season with 13 kills and 11 digs. Freshman middle blocker Jessica Nagy added five kills and four aces. Senior Chloe Evans led the Sugar Bears with 13 digs and freshman Marissa Collins had 36 assists.

Isabella Arcidiacono led the Islanders with seven kills and Jessica Jennett had 13 digs.
