CONWAY, Ark. - The University of Central Arkansas volleyball team won their 15th match in a row with a three-set sweep of Texas State in Southland Conference action at the Prince Center on Saturday afternoon. The Sugar Bears (21-6, 10-0 SLC) topped the Bobcats (14-10, 7-3 SLC) 25-21, 25-22, 25-14 and extended their Southland streak to 32 matches and home winning streak to 26.
UCA hit a scorching .341 for the match and connected on 41 kills, while TXST hit .179 with 31 kills. The Sugar Bears also served up nine aces, while the Bobcats managed just one.
Junior outside hitter Jessica Hays paced UCA with 15 kills and eight digs. Hays, who ranks third in the nation in total aces, also had three aces and moves into second place on UCA's career list with 146.
Senior Chloe Smith had 12 kills and three blocks. Sophomore Taylor Hammonds and freshman Karlie Giesler each recorded four blocks. Freshman Jessica Nagy tied her season-best with five aces and freshman setter Marissa Collins had 33 assists.
Amari Deardorff led the Bobcats with 12 kills and AJ Watlington had eight kills. Danielle Sanchou had eight digs and Shelbi Irvin recorded 17 assists.
UCA will go back on the road for a Southland Conference match at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Thursday.
