Jewel Smalls joined the University of Central Arkansas Women’s Basketball staff as an Assistant Coach in 2025.

Coach Jewel’s coaching career is backed by an outstanding playing career. She concluded her collegiate career at the University of Delaware (2020–2023), where she helped lead the Blue Hens to an NCAA Tournament appearance during the 2021–22 season. That year, the team finished 24–8, and Jewel made history by breaking the program’s single-game record for three-pointers made (8), surpassing the previous mark held by WNBA star Elena Delle Donne. She finished her career with 1,261 points, 744 rebounds, 214 assists, 160 steals, 39 blocks, and 14 double-doubles. She began her college playing career at Western Carolina University (2018–2020), earning 2019 SoCon Freshman of the Year honors and multiple All-Conference selections. Her 11 double-doubles during her sophomore season remain the most in a single season in program history.

During Coach Jewel’s coaching career, she was an assistant coach at Murray State College during the 2023–2024 season. Following her time at Murray State, she returned home to Alpharetta, Georgia to serve as a coach, math teacher, and special education teacher at McEachern High School in Powder Springs, her alma mater, where she was a member of the 2017 Georgia State Championship team.
