Experience: 1st season at UCA
History: Originally from Kea’au, Hawai’i, KP joins the staff at Central Arkansas from the Midwest where she competed at Carleton College and the University of Minnesota- Morris. While studying at Carleton College she won fourth place in indoor shot put at the NCAA DIII championships. Later that year she won the discus title at the outdoor national championships. KP was named the 2014 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Discus Champion, and took second in the MIAC in both the indoor and outdoor shot put. In 2015, while competing at the University of Minnesota- Morris, she won the indoor shot put at the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) championship and took second in the weight throw.
She made a second appearance at the NCAA DIII indoor championships and placed tenth in shot put. At Carleton College she holds both the indoor and outdoor shot put records, as well as the discus record. At the University of Minnesota- Morris, she holds the indoor shot put record. After competing in the indoor season at the University of Minnesota- Morris, she helped coached the throwers during the outdoor season- including several All-Conference performers. She has recently started training for competitive powerlifting.
Philosophy: Although track consists of many individual events, the support of a team can take individual and team accomplishments to a whole other level. Goal setting, vision, attitude, and drive are key components to success. I strive to teach my athletes to expect and prepare for success both on and off the field, and that they are responsible for the actions and attitudes they exhibit.
