During the month of October, which is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the University of Central Arkansas Athletic Department has organized "Bears For A Cure", a series of events during the month to help in the fight against the disease that affects approximately 1 in 8 women in the United States.
Among those currently battling breast cancer is Milisa Moore, Administrative Assistant for Business for UCA Athletics. Many members of the athletics staff shaved their heads in a show of support on Monday, Oct. 8 to kick off the department's Breast Cancer Awareness initiative.
All proceeds from the fundraising events will be donated to Conway Regional Medical Center.
