WICHITA, Kan. – The Central Arkansas men's golf team completed day one of the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational on Sunday, playing 18 holes. The Bears finished the day tied for ninth, thanks to a top-tier day from
Kalle Svederman.
Svederman finished the day in third place, two strokes under par. He tallied six birdies, and was 3-under on the back nine, sinking three birdies. Max Bialy,
Jack Wilson and
Easton Denney are tied at a 4-over 76 after day one. Bialy penciled in a pair of birdies to his score card, while Wilson had three. Denney, playing as an individual, played a decently consistent round of golf, keeping everything within a stroke of par.
Noah Blaickner shot a 79 on Sunday, playing the final seven holes at a 1-under to end on a good note.
Vukasin Suturovic played his way to an 81, tallying three birdies along the way. Central Arkansas finished the day as the best team on par 4s, and tallied the third-most birdies of any team.
The University of Denver leads all teams after one day, and a three-way tie for second exists between Wichita State, Incarnate Word and Xavier. Southern Indiana's Jason Bannister holds the individual lead at a 4-under, followed closely by Oklahoma State's Johnnie Clark in second and Svederman, who is in a three-way tie for third.
