BIRMINGHAM, Ala - The Bears dropped their first opportunity in Alabama as they fell to the University of Alabama-Birmingham.

UCA saw a lot of impressive play against the Dragons, but ultimately it was not enough as they dropped the match 5-2.

Some of the bright spots from today were the Bears' ability to dominate doubles play and junior Chunxi Xin. UCA swept the doubles round as only two matches were played before they hurried it on to singles play. In the singles version of the match, Xin excelled as she bested the Dragons No. 1. Her ability to come in clutch was big as she entered into the third set even at 1-1; from there, she rallied and eventually claimed the singles match 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.
