JACKSON, Tenn. _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears improved by 10 strokes in the second round and sit in a tie for ninth place at the Grover Page Classic being played at the Jackson Country Club.
UCA shot 300-290_590 on Monday and is tied with Nicholls. Host UT Martin leads the field at 559.
Junior
Spencer Jenkins of Lakeland, Tenn., leads the Bears after rounds of 69-71 for a 4-under 140. Jenkins is tied for sixth with three other players. He had four birdies and an eagle in his morning round, then added three more birdies in the afternoon round.
Sophomore
Sam Long of Liverpool, England, shot 75-73_148 and is tied for 38th place. Sophomore
Blaine Calhoon of Cabot, Ark., shot 79-72_151 and is tied for 56th, while senior
Trey DePriest of Lake City, Ark., shot 78-74_152 and is tied for 63rd.Â
Freshman
Ryan Bell of Norman, Okla., shot 78-79_157 and is tied for 81st, while senior
Miles Smith of Little Rock, playing as an individual, is in 90th place (82-80_162).Â
