Beaumont, Texas – The Central Arkansas tennis team started conference play with a win for the fourth year in a row as they defeated the Lamar Cardinals (6-3) on Friday afternoon at the Thompson Family Tennis Center.
With the win, the Bears (7-5) snapped the Cardinals' six-game winning streak and perfect 5-0 mark at home while extending their win streak to a season-high five.

SINGLES – Up 1-0 after doubles play, junior
Yada Vasupongchai jump-started what would be four singles victories on the day for Central Arkansas as she defeated junior Natalia Molina 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 4 to make it 2-0 early. After the Cardinals made it 2-1 with a 7-6, 6-0 win at the No. 2, the Bears got back-to-back impressive wins from freshman
Maja Gledic and sophomore
Chunxi Xin at the No. 3 and 1 to capture their first SLC win. After the match was secured, freshman
Jaeun Lee earned a 7-6, 1-6, 6-3 win at the No. 6 for her third straight victory.
DOUBLES – The Bears were in complete control to start the afternoon as they saw wins at the No. 1 and 2 for their fifth straight doubles point. The top pairing of Xin and sophomore
Fuka Nonoyama grabbed their eighth straight win and improved to 9-2 at the No. 1 while the pairing of Gledic and junior
Yada Vasupongchai won their third straight at the second court.
