CONWAY, Ark. _ Former University of Central Arkansas golfer Pep Angles earned full status on the European Tour this week by finishing in the Top 15 of the Challenger Tour series.
Angles, from Barcelona, Spain, was a four-time All-Southland Conference selection and three-time SLC Player of the Year and SLC Golf Student-Athlete of the Year. He played on two Palmer Cup teams representing Europe, and also played in consecutive NCAA Regionals for the Bears.
Angles finished 17th at the Challenge Tour finale, the NBO Golf Classic Grand Final on Saturday in Muscat, Oman. That finish put him 14th in the season standings, giving him his European tour card.
Angles made his European Tour debut at the Real Club Valderrama Open de Espana hosted by Sergio Garcia in April 2016 after winning the qualifier and tied for 19th overall.
