CONWAY, Ark. _ University of Central Arkansas third baseman Logan Preston was named the Southland Conference Hitter of the Week on Monday after leading the Bears to a record-setting sweep of Incarnate Word last weekend at Bear Stadium.
Preston, a senior from Texarkana, Texas, hit .700 for the three-game series (7 of 10) and had a slugging percentage of 1.300, with 10 RBIs and 9 runs scored. Preston had three doubles, a home run and four walks with just one strikeout on the weekend.
In Saturday's 21-10 win, Preston went 4 for 5 with a career-high 6 RBIs and scored four times with a pair of doubles and a home run. In Sunday's 20-4 seven-inning, run-rule victory, Preston went 2 for 4 with 4 runs scored and 2 RBI.
The 50 runs scored by the Bears (9-0, 21-10, 20-4) in the three-game series was the most against a Southland Conference opponent since joining the league in 2007.
