FRISCO, Texas – Outfielder Forrestt Allday got it done on the field and in the class room as a senior at the University of Central Arkansas.
Allday was named the Southland Conference Baseball Student-Athlete of the Year, the league office announced Wednesday in conjunction with the release of the All-Academic Baseball Teams. Allday was joined on the All-Academic team by junior pitcher Bryce Biggerstaff of Sherwood, who has a 3.07 grade-point average in insurance risk management.
Allday, a native of Friendswood, Texas (Friendswood H.S.), is a health education major with a 3.57 GPA. He is the first Central Arkansas baseball student-athlete to earn this distinction.
A first-team all-conference outfielder, Allday led the Southland in runs scored (59), on-base percentage (.503) and walks (53), and was second in hits (85), third in batting average (.365) and total bases (110) and fifth in stolen bases (15). His on-base percentage and walks also ranked in the top five nationally.
Allday started all 64 games for the SLC Tournament champion Bears and was named the tournament Most Valuable Player as UCA made its first trip to the NCAA tournament. A two-time conference hitter of the week, Allday helped lead the Bears to the championship game of the Starkville Regional before falling to Mississippi State.
Allday, an eighth-round draft pick by the Boston Red Sox, also earned first-team Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association All-America honors on Wednesday.
