BEARS FINISH 14TH IN FINAL TUNEUP BEFORE SLC TOURNEY


    COLUMBIA, Mo. _ The University of Central Arkansas men's golf team finished 14th on Tuesday at the Missouri Tiger Invitational played at The Club of Old Hawthorne.

    The Bears shot rounds of 293-305-299 to finish at 897. Junior Lewis George shot 73-73-71 for a 1-over 217 and tied for 17th place individually. Freshman Miles Smith tied for 21st, shooting 72-74-72_218, while senior Rodrigo Rivas shot 75-76-75_226 and tied for 49th place. Junior Luis Obiols tied for 90th (73-82-81_236) and junior Mason Keller was 102nd (80-83-86_249).

    Host Missouri won the event with an 839, followed by Kansas State (850), Missouri State (863), South Dakota (868), UMKC (873), Ilinois State (878), Seattle (880), Morehead State (881), Oral Roberts (889), SIU-Edwardsville (890),  Drake (892), Northern Illinois (893), IUPUI (896), UCA (897), North Dakota State (899), Northern Iowa (912), South Dakota State (925), Loyola-Chicago (926) and Creighton (929).

    The next competition for UCA will be the 2018 Southland Conference Championship on April 23-25 at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club in McKinney, Texas.
