Men's Cross Country

UCA MEN 4TH, WOMEN 7TH AT SOUTHLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS

    
    ABILENE, Texas _ University of Central Arkansas' men's squad finished fourth and the women seventh at Friday's 2017 Southland Conference Cross Country Championships at the Abilene Christian XC Course.

    The men tied their best SLC finish at fourth, led by juniors Julien Jeandree and Brant Cook. Jeadree, from Altenburg, Germany, finished 14th in a time of 25:10.4 over the 8K course. Cook, a junior from Grand Prairie, Texas, was 17th in a time of 25:15.7.

    Junior Markus Schweikert finished 25th (25:26.9), while senior Preston Borg was 29th (25:43.4), freshman Jared Hamilton was 37th (25:56.4) and sophomore Jaron Hamilton was 46th (26:10.2). Freshman Alex Hanson finished 49th (26:19.7) and junior Brock Collins was 57th (26:41).

    On the women's side, junior Taylor Dunn of Fredericton, New Brunswick, finished 12th overall in a time of 21:54.7 over the 6K course, the eighth-best time in school history. Junior Sara Shaw finished 24th in a time of 22:32.2. Sophomore Erin Woodward finished 36th (22:52.9), while senior Abbey Foreman was 41st (23:06.6), sophomore Kaylee Stewart was 48th (23:19.7), junior Alejandra Ruiz was 53rd (23:34.4), senior Layne Sargeson was 56th (23:41.9) and freshman Charlotte Blair was 61st (23:49.8).
