TOMLINSON, OBIOLS EARN ALL-SOUTHLAND HONORS

    CONWAY, Ark. _ University of Central Arkansas golfers Louis Tomlinson and Luis Obiols were named to the All-Southland Conference teams on Monday, with Tomlinson also earning Newcomer of the Year honors.
    
    Tomlinson was a first-team selection while Obiols was a third-team All-SLC pick. Tomlinson is the second UCA player to be tabbed newcomer of the year, joining Scotty Campbell, who received the honor in 2008.

    Tomlinson, a sophomore from Welwyn Garden City, England, was UCA's top golfer this season, averaging 73.72 strokes over 18 rounds. He finished in the Top 10 four times in his six tournaments, with season low rounds of 68 at the Bob Sutton Invitational and the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate. He had a season-low tournament score of 212 at the Houston Baptist Colin Montgomerie Invitational. 

    Obiols, a freshman from Dusseldorf, Germany, averaged 74.5 strokes per round over 30 rounds this season. He had a low round of 67 at the Memphis Intercollegiate in September and had a 215 tournament score at both the Memphis Intercollegiate and Twin Oaks Intercollegiate, where he was medalist with rounds of 69-712-75_215).
